Biblical Basis
Global Assistance Partners (GAP) began with a focus to create in-depth, widespread Biblical instruction and pastoral training. It started as an effort to build up the Church in the Ukraine in 1992 through instructing leaders in unregistered churches in the Bible and pastoral training. God brought a group of Americans together who began traveling three to four times a year to the Ukraine to teach week-long intensive seminars to the Unregistered Pentecostal pastors from the Ukraine and other CIS countries like Moldova, Georgia, and Russia. In 2004 the vision spread to Kenya, where there was a great need for Biblical teaching and Christian books. The majority of the population in Western Province of Kenya makes less than $1 a day, which leaves little extra for more than basic needs. The classes are spiritual and practical, applicable for both individuals and corporate church environments. GAP has provided textbooks and study aids for the pastors and Christian leaders taking the courses, which has allowed the information to have a far reaching impact long after the seminars are finished.
Today
As the church in both the Ukraine and Kenya has seen the benefits of GAP's courses, there is a hunger and excitement for Biblical teaching that extends beyond the limited capacity of a week-long intensive seminar. We are in the process of facilitating a Portable Bible School (PBS), which will consist of a two-month course which will travel to different geographical areas, such as Russia, Germany, Tanzania, and Sudan, with qualified national teachers. The aim is to incorporate Global Universitys courses into the PBS which will give each student the opportunity to earn a certificate and the confidence in being grounded in Gods Word with a basic understanding of the pastoral ministry.
